This is England- film 2006

This is England originally started as a film and them was made into a TV series on channel 4. It is based around a working class community and a young lad who has just moved into the area , getting bullied at school for his clothing and gets mixed into a group of 'Skin heads' who are much older than him and they tech him how they dress and there way within society. Then another group of 'skinheads' join and there views are extreme for example about race , war and the reasons behind why they think that they are overlooked within society.

It is really interesting to see how these different views and influences have on this young lad. He goes from being reasonable person to getting roped into gang crime and racial attacks. It is an interesting demonstration of how social culture influences young people like it was shown in the documentary  Street Style and Sound, that teenagers and young people where tagreted by this.  From watching this film I kept drawing similarities between the 80's youth culture and now. We still have gangs and groups of teens who dress the same and act the same. I need to do more research int this but there are some strong similarities between now and the youth of the 80's. Also could this be where the diminution of the working class emerged from.
