- Emergent service class. - I took the test myself and this was the result I got . It states that the people in this group are young, enjoy a cultured social life , rent their houses - almost 90%. Which dose make sense but looking at the responses of others who took the test it is obvious that society as a whole could have said that there are embedded prejudices towards social class.
- Elite:
- 'I'm a member of the elite. the country's properly gubbed of that's the case. I can't even spell cavyar.'
- Established middle:
- ' I'm uneasy about taking this class calculator. If i'm middle class, i'll fill a 4x4 with organic pesto and drown myself.'
- Technical middle:
- ' I'm technical middle class, which means I shop at wait rose but then feel guilty. '
- New affluent workers:
- 'Not sure how to make tiny pension cover cost of latest heating oil bill, but am new affluent worker . ' apparently'.
- Traditional working class :
- 'Despite being public school and oxford, I scored as traditional working class. Dimond Geezer too ?'
- Emergent service workers :
- 'It's time to get some new friends, not just postal workers and farmers.'
- Precariat:
- ' came out as precariat , despite going to the theatre. Let nobody tell you culture is elitist.'
- 'Classes are bundles of economic, cultural and social capital that convey advantage for individuals and families from one generation to the next.'
- French sociologist , pierre bour dieu first developed this approach in 1984. Suggested that there are different types of capitals which give people an advantage in life.
- ECONOMIC, CULTURAL AND SOCIAL.
- There aim -' We wanted to find a detailed ways of measuring how much economic cultural and social capital people possess.'
- 161,458 people look part in the survey. 90% of participants described themselves as 'white'.'
