Very quick brief that I completed within a day.
It took a lot of organization and I wanted to challenge myself and complete it in a day, which I did. This dose give me confidence to be able to complete briefs quickly and still using the same processes that I would use for longer projects. Because of the speedy nature of this brief I didn’t have much time to think of a detailed concept. I decide to go back to an illustration Friday ‘rock’ and take inspiration from that. This was when I came up with the idea of drawing thing huge circle with a very small person in the left hand half. I wanted it to look slightly brain like and this is why I decide to divide it by colour. But also because worry is physiological, a thought or feeling and I though it made sense to depict it this way but not in an obvious way.
Having the small simple person inside the massive complex circle is a big metaphorical element. The scale is meant to give the sense that the person is lost and alone. Curled up as well suggests isolation and hurt. Lino and screen printing again where good choices and made the process much more enjoyable. I have used bright and vibrant colours because when I
in reference to the lights used, there was a lovely turquoise/
blue circle behind him on the stage and I really like the
aesthetic of that so I incorporated that into the design too.
I wish I had spent more time on this brief but sadly secret 7
where not taking submissions this year. But if the submission
had been open I would have spent a lot more time on it and
take more time to think over the concept. However it was still a good exercise to do.
Final thing :
