Lino cut Ballet leg and type.

I decided that an appropriate motif for the posters would be the Ballet leg on pointe to link in with the #. But I wanted it to have a point of difference and to make it more modern. So I decied look back at the Sergei Polunin video and studied how his leg muscles work or where poisoned when he was holding positions. I aim for this to communicate the endurance and physical strength that is need for the ballet while still keeping in with the brief specification of communicating the elegance of it.

So the image is still identifiable as ballet but has that extra element of intricate pattern. It also I think has a sense of tradition about it. It links well with the Royal Opera House logo which is of the same colour scheme and style.

It didn't take me very long to cut the leg out and get it printed it only took me an afternoon, which was really great and I think my skills in Lino cutting are improving. Also whilst I was cutting the leg out Beth was creating the type and I have a really good feeling that when these two elements are combined we will have something that links to ballet but in a modern more refreshing way.
