Jack Garratt was amazing!!! I think by going to see him live has really given me a strong idea of how other people connect to the music, I personally relate to it and himself. I find some of the songs quite empowering however when he played 'worry' there did seem to be an element of sadness and almost loneliness . I think this is because you forget that it is just him on stage , no one else and this I think is an element that make his music special and shows his talent. He really cares about what he is playing, even though his performance only exists in a small area , that power he puts into the hitting the drums and the expressions when he is singing I think is self reflecting of what he is wanting to communicate about his music. Also he is a very visual performer , in the way he moves when he performs but also the stage lighting. It is very bold and powerful , energetic as well. Bright Neon lights that pann across the audience and that fall in time time to rhythms and beats.
From being in an environment where you are seeing him live you also see the kind of music his audience attracts, young teens and adults, mainly. This dose give me some grounding in which to work off as the cover ideal would want to appeal to this audience too.
Symbols like the circle featured highly in the performance , the light up one on his hat to the one behind him. Really like the idea for that being part of the composition so how?
