- The films elements all seem to flow into each other and connect to the next moment seamlessly, for example at the beginning you have the eye , then from the outside is the shadow of Count Olaf , which comes out to revels the next scene. By having these flowing elements it makes for a stronger narrative with in the video.
- From having worked with after effects a bit I can see how Carliri has animated some of the elements but, I think the animation appears to be so much more complicated with the detail put onto the initial drawings. he still keeps the shapes simple but the small elements of detial on them and the verity of shapes makes it look complex.
- I also love how it seems just to follow a certain colour pallet, blacks , dull greys , blues and off whites. It relates well to the films atmosphere and the topics the film addresses.
- Using black shapes to help the composition of each frame is a great idea and is effective in creating the dark tone and making the key characters stand out.
- Overlaying some of the shapes with textures too gives a really good aesthetic. almost takes away the digital elements and give it the hand made feel.
- Having repetition of movements as well is a effective idea, making certain shapes move in the same way throughout the animation I think also give consistency.
- The roccuring visual symbols, the eye.
- I can see now how even with completely different visual signatures you can really make the animation your own and still express your opinion through it and I think it is a great way of visually communicating to an audience.
