Illustration Friday - Spider.

First illustration Friday. feeling a lot of pressure when going into this but I set myself a dead line for it and as I got closer to the deadline I felt less pressured and less worried about how the image would look and this helped me to make effective decisions. I defiantly lack confidence in putting my work out there but after posting this on the website, it showed me that the whole process was easier then I thought, this has given me more confidence.

Printing the lino then going on to Photoshop and editing it slightly with textures was a good idea I think. It emphasises the hand made feel and gives the image better tonal values.

I am fairly happy with the image, but given that I gave my self quick turn around for this breif, 2 days. I have surprised my self as to what I am able to achieve in this time. However I think I could have given the image more meaning or a
stronger concept behind it.

 Initial Texture experiments:

  • Overall I struggled to place the spider on this texture so all of the detail could be seen clearly. Having the image on a plain white background shows the lino itself well but through experimenting in Photoshop , I found that but making the texture white and over laying it on the lino gave me a good texture as well but much more subtle.
