Illustration Friday - rock.

My main aim/ challenge when creating this image was to use colour. I never really use colour in any of my work and I think it has got to a stage now where with the edition of colour , I think it could really help elevate my work. A lack of colour has also been mentioned in feedback several , not just in responsive so it is something that needs addressing. Colour will also allow a different tone to my work , come away from dark and creepy for a bit and make more lighthearted imagery. 'Rock' was a really good opportunity to experiment with colour and pattern more. I wanted this circle to show a close up rock like texture and look like a planet. I had the moon in mind as it is technically a massive rock. This is why I have positioned the blue circle slightly off centre to the pink circle underneath so it has the crescent. I chose a light turquoise the darker colour mainly because I needed the detail to be seen clearly and and the pink relates to the moons light. I think however I could have made stronger colour choses not sure the pink really works. I could have done a light pastel green or yellow. Although I am happy that I was able to use colour and no black. And this will give me more confidence in using more colour across all the modules and will hopefully develop my practise.
