After experimenting with background I have decided to cover all the paper cut with white printing ink. The ink doesn't cover all of the paper instead it leaves this really nice texture which give the face tone and a verity of shades. It also gives the impression of a damage wrinkled skin and this is really effective and will hopefully help in portraying the peoples desperation. Even though on white paper the detail is hard to see on a darker background I think it will show through?
