Gif expriment 1

Editorial mediums are moving towards digital platforms and gif or short films are becoming ever more popular and are seen as a new way of enticing the reader.

I wanted to make a quick and simple gif of this image because I thought it would be a really interesting one to try and animate. Due to the image being so complex and detailed I decided to make the movement/ change very simple. I overlaid a completely red version of the image with the original. I wanted the red to symbolise and emergency / flashing light. This brings more emphasis I think on the red box as it stays red and empty when the light fades. It would have been good to add a sound effect like a siren over the top but I think as a gif it would get annoying for the viewer having that on repeat. But if I had more time I would have liked to have made this into a sting. zooming in more on the inmates, adding smaller details like the slight movements of them.
But as it stands I think that is dose bring some emphasis onto to subject of solitary confinement.
