2nd print - in response to the Uk prisons - solitary confinement.

This was an article that dealt with an incredible sensitive and sad subject. I was not sure how to approach this but decided that the idea need to be simple and sympathetic.

I have set myself an aim for this module to  start making complete images , rather than spot illustration. I think that I have started to do that here , which is really good.

Bit stuck for time on this one and so decided carry on keeping the people small and simple. This was a good idea as I think that it illustrated the point well without giving too much information to the viewer. The red box swell serves a similar purpose. It is very symbolic but handles the image of suicide in a sensitive way. I also this the scale of the people to the boxes they are in show the confident part well and shows the loneliness of images in solitary confinement.

Again I uses the same process as before and screen printing it. The texture comes out really well in this image and it was completely by accident that this happened, but I think it dose add quality to the work. The blue lines representing the bars that run very faintly through the image were a last minute addition. I felt that it need to be more obvious that it was prison as before it didn't come across clearly. But the lines also worked well for clothing the people. This helps massively in making the body much more obvious and is a small amount of detail that works.

Overall much happier with this image as it relies to the article well, fits the nature of it and communicates a clear narrative that has effective comopsition.
I really want to try and make Gifs of this, but depending on time I will have to see.
