I wanted to make a statement about Badger culling. It is an issue within our relationship with nature that I feel very passionate about. I had trouble with colour for this print however as when in photoshop I had more control over the colours but when printing it I decided to use the same inks I used for the bird as to keep the continuity. They turned out bolder then I thought and I would have liked then subtler , but the blue to me seems better than the green as the badger is clearer and the green is still visible. Adding the yellow leaves in though, highlights the key elements of the image. And the bold red I think stands out the way I intended. It is meant to symbolise blood coming form the animal and bleeding into and matching the backgrounds shapes. Not sure how effectively the message gets across I could have made it clearer , spent more time sketching and working out how to do it. But I set myself a limited time to get this print done in and so I didn't have much time to plan and work out a way of showing this and still making this print work in the set. I don't think that this print is as good as the bird but dose work in a set with it and that is helped with the colours and shapes used. I aim to do one more but I need to mange my time more effectively as I can see myself getting carried away with the brief as it is enjoyable but I need to work on some other briefs that have closer deadlines and come back to this.
