1st image: Old rose.
I really like this image because of the materials I used. Brush pen is so effective, and when I put pressure on the pen it faded out the lines and feathered out. I think that this effect worked really well because it added texture to the image and the object I was drawing had lots of texture , but trying to show this was a challenge, however by using the brush pen I think help me achieve this. If I was to do this image again though I would definitely consider colour because the flower did have some interesting colours and I think that it would add to the image.
2nd Image: Elephant.
This was a section of and elephant sculpture,I was really happy with the final image however it took me quite a while to draw this and it was hard to capture all of the detail so I had to use my imagination and make up some of the shapes, so it was another challenge to really look and just draw what I saw. So if I was to do this image again that would be my main focus.
3rd Image: Owl
I drew this toward the end of the task, whilst in the discovery center. I used Brush pen again for this one , because of the texture , but also I had two minutes in which to draw this image so I thought the quickest way to do this would be mark making instead of line work. Really happy with this drawing because I actually looked more at the object rather then what I was drawing , which was an improvement, but the brush pen again was a really successful tool and it was a good choice.
Observational drawing is a really good task to do in order to improve your drawing technique. By doing this task my drawing and my confidence in drawing has improved. For example this owl drawing above is something which I don't think I would have been able to do if I hadn't been practicing at looking and drawing objects. However at the beginning of the task I wasn't looking at the object much just drawing and guessing at what it looked like , so next time I do a observational drawing of something for example that is detailed I will take time to try and draw what I see rather then what I think is there. A lot of the images I drew however where in black and white ,so next time I will incorporate colour because it is an essential part of an image and I didn't do any experimenting with adding colour in this task , so it something which I need to do next time.
