Ideas discussed in seminar- sketchbook.

  • Your sketchbook is the place where you both gererate and develop ideas.
  • It is your main tool and is used to visual explore subjects, and should have very little annotation.
  • A sketchbook is a place where you can experiment with different mediums, find new tools and is used for drawing different things, of you don't draw it well first time the you can draw it again until your happy with it.
  • You can draw from both imagination and reference.
  • It can be stupid, serious and personal, it is a visual diary.
  • it is a good place to make mistakes in, and it is good if you make them because you can improve and develop from this.
  • A sketchbook should have decent paper quallity and shouldn't be ristrictive for example i like to work A3 because it allows me to produce large and small pieces. Also I can fit several sketches on one page which makes it easier for development because i don't have to keep turning over pages to see what my last sketch was.
  • Drawing your sketchbook should feel like taking notes, trying to include as much information as possible and this should help to generate ideas.
  • Your sketchbook is your own process.
