3rd editorial - Lauren Groff's short fiction - Dogs Go Wolf, New Yorker.
This image took a lot of development, more time than I antisipated. But once I got the best intial idea down it took me around 5-6 hours to make.
The final idea comes from a slected part of the text where the girls are in one of the hunts , having to sleep on the floor of the kitchen becuase the air conditoning in there own hut broke.
I thought the idea of these two children having to sleep on the floor in a strange hut emphaisised the element of lonlyness and unity between the two girls.
The compositon of this image was complicated and it was difficult to get the angle right. But overall it is successful.
If I was to do this image again I would try and create an image that has brighter colours and that relfects the more adventurous side of the story. Also I not sure why I keep using blue hues and tones. In the next images I need to use different colours. Brighter pinks or reds could be a good idea.
The image relates well to the text. especially in its croped for with the short caption , (see image above). There are several key features that occur in the story that I havnt put in the image but adding anything else would have overcomplicated it and taken away form the key foucus , the two girls.
