It was hard trying to find a design that worked for the poster because I wanted to keep it simple. The red circle had to feature as a occurring symbol of power and the snake featured in it again as it is becoming a symbol of her strength and cunningness. May people wanted her out of power and she just didn't budge , she just found way to get rid of them. I have cut shapes into her face to make her look scary and intimidating. and the eyes on the wings are suppose to show the eye in which she see and controls all. The flys around the edge represent the decaying and death, but also form a really nice pattern to show her graceful appearance. the writing along the edge translates as empress cixi.
I may spray paint certain sections of this image yet , and clean up certain parts so they are less grainy.
