Originally had planned to spend more time on the illustration but with limited time due to COP, I didn't have much time for development. I gave myself a 3 day turn around to design and print. I decided to make the print A5 and do a series of 25. The prints are to hand out at Hanbury as giveaways. I got the idea for the print form one of the Sherlock Holmes stories that Folio set. This one is for the Musgrave Ritual . My original intention had been to enter it but again due to cop I didn't have time. But still doing these responses is vital for me to experiment and play with working on a larger piece of text.
‘From within the box he produced a crumpled piece of paper , an old- fasioned brass
key, a peg of wood with a ball of string attached to it, and three rusty old disks of metal.’
This print has worked well as instead pattern all over the image I have used block colour. This definitely helps the images shape and not look overcrowded. If I'd have had more time I would have added a background to this and used colours that suited the time and stories atmosphere better. But overall I think this is one of the strongest prints I have done in a while.
