The National Associations for the Advancement of Coloured People is mentioned heavily in Go Set A Watchman as it popularity was growing especially in the 1940's. It's main aim was to get black people the vote , so they where able to gain some control over the miss justice that was happening. The movement is still going today with strong backing and these are the values they stand by:

prejudice among the citizens of the United States

To remove all barriers of racial discrimination
through democratic processes

racial discrimination and to seek its elimination
- ·
To educate persons as to their constitutional
rights and to take all lawful action to secure the exercise thereof, and to
take any other lawful action in furtherance of these objectives, consistent
with the NAACP's Articles of Incorporation and this Constitution.
